An inn has stood at this crossing of the Avon since 1786, and the three acres of meadow behind the pub now take tents on roomy grass pitches, with a dozen hardstandings and a handful of electric hook-ups for vans and tourers. It is simple, cheap and sociable camping: pitch up, let the kids make for the play area, then wander thirty seconds to the bar for a local pint and a proper Sunday roast.
